Living in El Mirage, AZ
El Mirage sits in the Northwest Valley, right next to Surprise, where I'm relocating. It covers about 10 square miles, with Grand Avenue (US 60) and a BNSF rail line along its northern edge and quick access to Loop 101 and Loop 303. Luke Air Force Base is just to the south.
The city has deep roots. In the 1930s, Mexican migrant farm workers settled on the west bank of the Agua Fria River to build canals and harvest crops. They founded El Mirage in 1937, and it incorporated in 1951, so the city is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2026.
