Litchfield Park is a small city in the West Valley, about 3.3 square miles, with Goodyear to the south, Avondale to the southeast and Luke Air Force Base just to the north. Litchfield Road connects it to Interstate 10, and Loop 303 is a short drive west.
The city has a long history. In 1916, Goodyear Tire & Rubber sent executive Paul W. Litchfield to buy land here to grow long-staple cotton for tires. The company town took the name Litchfield Park in 1926, and the city incorporated in 1987. The Wigwam, which began as guest quarters for Goodyear executives and opened to the public in 1929, is still the centerpiece, with three 18-hole golf courses.
