Living in Glendale, AZ
Glendale is one of the West Valley's biggest cities, and it covers a lot of ground, from older neighborhoods near Grand Avenue (US 60) out to Loop 101 and west toward Loop 303. It sits a short drive from Surprise, where I'm relocating, so it's part of my everyday area.
Each part of Glendale has a different feel. Historic Downtown Glendale and the Catlin Court district have bungalows turned into shops, antique stores and restaurants, and the area hosts Glendale Glitters every holiday season. Arrowhead Ranch, in north Glendale near Loop 101, is a master-planned area with lakes, golf nearby and Arrowhead Towne Center. Off Loop 101, the Westgate Entertainment District surrounds State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals and the Fiesta Bowl, and Desert Diamond Arena. Camelback Ranch, the spring training home of the Dodgers and White Sox, is nearby.

Glendale is also a job center. Luke Air Force Base, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center and Midwestern University are major employers, and the Loop 303 corridor in west Glendale has added large facilities such as the White Claw brewery. Maricopa County is also building Northern Parkway, a new east-west route between Loop 303 and Grand Avenue.
